For pernambuco bows Dörfler use only selected woods, which have been perfectly stored and dried for approximately 30 years. Despite great hardness and density, this timber exhibits excellent elasto-mechanics making it the first choice for bow making of a high standard. Pernambuco wood comes from northern and central east Brazil. The tree from which sourced is called Caesalpinia echinata, also known as Pau Brasil.
